Introduction to Websites and Digital Images

This half term we are going to be looking into designing websites, both in Dreamweaver and using code (HTML/CSS/JavaScript).
As part of this we are also goin to investigate how to use Photoshop to create professional looking graphics to go onto our website, to improve the overall appearance of it.
The websites we make will need to incoporate a number of different features.

For homework you have been asked to make a note of what your favourite website is, and why you like it.
Example, what not to do:
"My favourite website is Facebook because I can talk to my friends."
Stop! Think! Would Facebook still be your favourite website if you unfriended all of your current friends and then could only be friends with your family? What about if you only had 1 friend on Facebook and they only went on it on a Sunday morning for 30 seconds?
With websites like this (social networking sites) the website is only usually "good" if you and the people you are friends with use it to interact with each other regularly - because you make the content.

What you could talk about:
Layout of the website, house style, how easy it is to use, what features it offers, how often it is updated, the content.
Layout: What goes where - were are the buttons, text, images
House style: What is the companies colours, fonts, logo etc (Layout might come under this as well)
Ease of use: Did you have to search for buttons or was everything clearly marked out and easy to find
Features: Animations, images, movies/videos, games etc
How often it is updated: Is the information still relevent?
Content: What kind of things are talked about, what kind of images are used etc
